Building a digital home for Ottawa's most vibrant neighborhood

Website Design & Development

Centretown Ottawa organization, formerly known as Bank Street BIA, serves as a community hub and advocacy group for one of Ottawa’s most vibrant neighborhoods. As part of the organization’s broader rebrand to “Centretown Ottawa” they needed a new website: one that could serve as a genuine digital home for residents, business owners, and visitors, and act as a central resource for community events, initiatives, and updates.

The Challenge

  • Modernizing the Digital Presence: The organization needed a user-friendly, informative website capable of functioning as Centretown’s primary online resource and a living hub for community activity.
  • Designing for Multiple Audiences: The site had to serve residents, local business owners, and visitors alike, each with different needs, from finding local events to learning about neighborhood initiatives to accessing advocacy updates.
  • Reinforcing a New Identity Through Digital Design: As the visual face of the rebrand’s public-facing presence, the website needed to reinforce the community’s renewed sense of place and pride through its design, not just its name.

The Process

  • Information Architecture
Structured the site’s content and navigation around the needs of Centretown’s varied audiences, residents, business owners, and visitors, making sure each group could quickly find what mattered to them.
  • Wireframes
Mapped out key page layouts and user flows, establishing how the site would function as a central hub for events, initiatives, and community updates before any visual design began.
  • Design
Developed the visual design of the site, translating the energy and renewed identity of the Centretown rebrand into a cohesive, welcoming digital experience.
  • Development
Built out the final website, bringing the wireframes and design to life as a fully functional community resource.

The Outcome

The relaunched website became a genuinely valuable community resource, making it easier for residents and visitors to stay informed about events, local businesses, and neighborhood news. Paired with a community-focused launch campaign, the site’s interactive features helped foster stronger engagement from residents, business owners, and community organizations, giving Centretown Ottawa a digital presence that matched the renewed identity and energy behind the rebrand.
